At the 2024 Emmy Awards, Reba McEntire made waves not for her outfit but for her unusual hairstyle. Alongside her former “Reba” co-star Melissa Peterman, McEntire showcased a style that led to discussion among fans. Although McEntire has retained much of her youthful charm since the show’s end in 2007, her signature red locks attracted considerable attention.
Her bangs were notably longer than the duration of her Billboard hit “Consider Me Gone.” As she sang those familiar lines, it became a playful nod to her unusual bangs, which extended downwards and accentuated her forehead. Moreover, most of her hair was styled back, which drew even more focus to them.
While McEntire usually goes for straight hair, her natural curls are usually styled out of sight. It’s possible she sported a wig or clip-in bangs at the Emmys while presenting an award alongside Peterman for outstanding scripted variety series, and promoting their new sitcom, “Happy’s Place.” Wigs have been suggested as a frequent choice for McEntire at various events by beauty experts.
Reba McEntire’s 2024 ACM updo made a suspicious comeback
Hair and makeup expert Luna Viola suggested that Reba McEntire likely wore a wig at the 2024 ACM Awards. Launching onto the red carpet with a flawless updo, she later changed her hairstyle on stage, only to revert back to the updo. Instead of frequent hair styling, utilizing wigs for quick changes would have been a more practical approach for McEntire. A telltale sign of wig-wearing is the absence of visible scalp, according to Viola.
Reba has previously acknowledged her use of wigs. In her memoir, “Not that Fancy,” she writes about using a wig to conceal a shorter haircut in the ’90s. The decision to hide her new look was made until the launch of her album “What If It’s You,” as long hair was a staple for country singers back then.
McEntire also finds wigs practical for her tours, having worn one during her Broadway stint in “Annie Get Your Gun” in 2001. She has even donned wigs on vacations, noting how convenient they are for transitions, such as going from swimming pool to dinner in a short time.
