In a surprising incident, Chelsea Belle O’Donnell, the eldest daughter of comedian Rosie O’Donnell, was arrested at 27 years old. She faces several serious allegations, including child neglect and drug possession, after authorities found her 11-month-old son living in extremely poor conditions filled with drugs, trash, and hazardous items.
On September 17, officers arrived at Chelsea’s residence in Marinette County, Wisconsin, responding to a complaint about a domestic disturbance. They discovered a home with clear evidence of heavy drug misuse and a disturbing environment.
Upon police arrival, Chelsea showed signs of drug use such as dilated pupils and nervous behavior. Although she claimed there was no incident, it was evident she had a confrontation with her boyfriend, Jacob Nelund, earlier. Officers found methamphetamine paraphernalia on her and later saw the alarming state of her home.
Arrest reveals grim home conditions
Authorities characterized the house as being filled with “rotting food, dirty dishes, soiled diapers, and discarded personal items.” A child’s room was disturbingly found with hypodermic needles and drug residues, alongside a meth pipe that was easily reachable by the infant. The baby was discovered asleep in the messy surroundings and was later placed in the care of a friend of Nelund.
While Chelsea and Jacob admitted to consuming marijuana, police were convinced that deeper drug use was involved. Jacob’s physique suggested he might be struggling with meth addiction, yet he initially denied using other drugs. Chelsea was also caught hidden meth within a black container in her bra when arrested.
This latest incident isn’t Chelsea’s initial encounter with the law. Having grown up under the care of Rosie O’Donnell and her former wife Kelli Carpenter, Chelsea has faced challenges related to drug addiction and mental health for over ten years.
Chelsea’s difficult history comes to light
Chelsea disappeared in 2015 as a teenager and has had a strained relationship with Rosie throughout the years. At one time, she even distanced herself from the family entirely and chose to live with her biological mother instead.
Following her latest arrest, Chelsea made bail, but then faced further trouble on October 11 when she was caught trying to throw away a meth pipe during a traffic stop. Again, she was found with more meth and prescription drugs hidden in her bra, leading to additional felony charges.
Chelsea is currently dealing with multiple felony accusations, including drug trafficking, meth possession, and child neglect. A hearing is anticipated next month, during which her family is hoping for a positive change in her tumultuous life.
