Rick Harrison is not facing life in prison
Fans of “Pawn Stars” might not see Rick Harrison for a while. This isn’t due to any legal issues, as some rumors suggest, but rather because the beloved show has entered an indefinite break after wrapping up its 23rd season in April. The speculation about Harrison receiving a life sentence linked to money laundering and other federal offenses has surged online, especially on YouTube. However, some reports tried to clarify this with subtle disclaimers that many missed.
The Thoughtful Lab shared a YouTube video titled “Rick Harrison From Pawn Stars Sentenced To Life Imprisonment,” but included a note stating: “Our videos mix factual, rumored, and fictional elements. Viewers should not treat any of this as confirmed or reliable. We encourage responsible viewing.” Unfortunately, this disclaimer was located beneath an extensive caption discussing “the shocking details surrounding his sentencing and the courtroom drama that shocked the public,” requiring viewers to click to reveal it.
This misinformation prompted the U.S. Prison Guide to investigate the situation. Their findings showed, “Rick has never been convicted of any crime, nor has he stood before a judge for anything that could lead to prison.” Harrison himself remained unfazed by the fake news, remarking, “People say if they’re fabricating stories about you for attention, it means you’re well-known. So I guess I must be popular,” he commented on “Pawn After Dark.”
