Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson are a great couple, as fans of “Married to Real Estate” can see. However, they’ve faced challenges in their marriage. To enhance their bond, the HGTV pair chose to sleep separately, which might seem like a concerning sign to some. Yet, Samantha Burns, a licensed mental health counselor and couples therapist, clarifies that this choice shouldn’t be viewed negatively.
Burns suggests we shouldn’t rush to conclusions about Sherrod and Jackson’s relationship just because they don’t share a bed. “It’s essential to distinguish between sleeping arrangements and the state of the relationship,” she emphasized. Sometimes, practical considerations drive this decision. For instance, differing schedules might lead couples to adapt their sleeping situations. Conditions like sleep apnea can also disrupt rest, as snoring may disturb a partner’s sleep.
Additionally, partners often have different nighttime preferences. One may need a specific mattress type or a preferred room temperature, along with unique wind-down routines like watching TV, reading, or meditating. Despite battling past difficulties, Sherrod and Jackson have a solid foundation, allowing them to sleep in separate rooms while still feeling connected and committed to each other.
