The Crown Prosecution Service in the UK has officially charged Andrew and Tristan Tate with numerous serious offenses, including rape, human trafficking, and causing bodily injury, with a total of 21 charges filed against them.
This significant development adds to the international legal challenges confronting the contentious duo, who are also under investigation by authorities in Romania, situated in Eastern Europe.
Among the charges, 10 are directed at the 38-year-old Andrew involving three victims, whilst 11 charges are against the 36-year-old Tristan concerning one victim. This stems from an extensive investigation led by Bedfordshire Police in the UK.
The evidence presented to the CPS prompted their decision to pursue prosecution, marking the first public acknowledgment of the gravity and range of the allegations in their home country.
The charges are linked to events alleged to have happened between 2012 and 2015. The Tates’ legal representatives assert that the brothers “firmly deny all allegations” and claimed during their arrest that they are “innocent men.”
The CPS has clarified that no legal actions in the UK will begin until the current legal issues in Romania are settled, after which the UK authorities will proceed to extradite them to London for trial.

The charges in the UK arrive as the brothers remain under investigation in Romania, where they were initially detained in December 2022 on human trafficking charges. Andrew also faced allegations of rape.
Despite denying the charges, both have endured months of house arrest. In August 2024, further allegations arose, including trafficking of minors and engaging in sexual activities with underage individuals—claims they have continued to dispute.
Additionally, there is another case focused on accusations of establishing a criminal network for the sexual exploitation of women, which was recently referred back to prosecutors for more examination after a challenge was upheld by the brothers in December 2024.
Andrew gained notoriety as a public figure after participating in the reality series Big Brother in 2016, from which he was expelled following the emergence of a video that appeared to show him striking a woman with a belt. Both parties asserted the act was consensual.
After departing from mainstream media, the former kickboxer garnered a significant online following through his outspoken commentary on themes of masculinity and wealth, amassing around 10 million followers across various social media channels.
Their perspectives on women and masculinity have faced considerable backlash, with critiques labeling them as misogynistic and harmful to young, impressionable males.
Both brothers were born in the United States and later relocated to Luton, England, with their mother following their parents’ divorce. They hold dual citizenship in the UK and the U.S. and have resided in Romania for several years.
