Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship has inspired a new Hallmark film, and the audience response is in.
The movie titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” premiered to impressive ratings, drawing in 2.88 million viewers for its 90-minute runtime.
The film became the top cable program on its debut night, and the second highest-rated show overall, right after the Texas-Texas A&M game, which had 9.46 million viewers.
Despite drawing from Taylor and Travis’ relationship, the film’s characters are not based on a football star or a musician.
Instead, it centers on superfan Alana, played by Hunter King, and Derrick, the Director of Fan Engagement for the Chiefs, played by Tyler Hynes.
What are the thoughts on “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story”?
While the viewership was robust, opinions on the film vary.
One IMDB reviewer rated it 7/10, commenting, “It was a cute movie… this deviates from the typical narrative of a high-powered executive falling for a small-town resident.”
Another viewer rated it 9/10, saying, “I enjoyed the movie, found it entertaining and well-crafted. But I might be biased since I’m a romantic.”
Conversely, another user gave it a low score of 4/10, expressing, “This was disappointing. I have to elaborate on this.”
“If you’re not a Chiefs fan, it might be tough to enjoy this film. They were rather heavy-handed with the references.”
One reviewer was even harsher, scoring it a mere 2/10, deeming it “worse than anticipated,” while another remarked that it was “misusing the talent of the supporting cast.”
