Has Travis Kelce moved on from Taylor Swift? Fans are speculating after Kelce’s standout performance in the Kansas City Chiefs‘ comeback victory against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, during which Swift was noticeably absent.
This was the second consecutive game that Swift skipped, and it perfectly aligned with Kelce’s best outing of the 2024 season. The tight end, the highest-paid in the NFL, excelled by catching seven passes for 89 yards, leading the team in receiving following an injury to Rashee Rice. Given Swift’s frequent presence in LA — where she filmed her latest concert film — many found it odd that she wasn’t at SoFi Stadium cheering for Kelce.
Clarification from Swift’s representatives
As reported by TMZ, there is no rift between Kelce and Swift, despite the singer-songwriter last attending a Chiefs game during Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Her current absence is attributed to her upcoming tour, which kicks off again on Oct. 18 in Miami, along with her rehearsals for the last leg of her extensive 149-show world tour.
“Taylor is preparing for her upcoming tour in Florida,” according to TMZ. “It seems that her rehearsals are the reason for her absence at Travis’ recent games.”
Fortunately for both Swift and Kelce, the Chiefs’ next game is on Monday Night Football, featuring an Oct. 7 clash with the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium. It’s uncertain if Swift will be present, but the game comes after Kelce’s impressive performance as he aims to replicate that success against the 2-2 Saints.
The Chiefs are currently 4-0, marking their best start since 2020, having won every game by a narrow margin of seven points or fewer. They haven’t achieved a 5-0 start since 2018, when quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in his debut season as a starter — a game that Swift might want to catch in person at Arrowhead.
