The distribution of surveillance images featuring the individual implicated in the tragic killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO Brian Thompson has sparked a wave of online discussion due to the suspect’s striking similarity to actors Timothee Chalamet and Jake Gyllenhaal. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when Thompson was shot execution-style near a Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
Released by the NYPD, the surveillance video shows the suspect, who is grinning and has a black mask hanging loosely from his chin, clad in a gray hoodie—the same attire he allegedly wore during the crime.
After the suspect’s images were shared, social media users started commenting on the striking likeness to well-known celebrities.
One post humorously proclaimed, “We got him, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal!!!”
Another user quipped: “Jake Gyllenhaal wanted for connection with UnitedCEO assassination.”
The resemblance to Timothee Chalamet, known for his role in Dune, also stirred conversations.
“The UnitedHealthcare CEO killer is … Timothée Chalamet??” questioned another user.

The surveillance images depict the suspect at a Starbucks located on West 56th Street and Sixth Avenue shortly before the shooting. According to the NYPD, the man then approached Thompson outside the Hilton Hotel and fired multiple shots from close range before fleeing the scene.
His escape was executed in two parts: first by running on foot, followed by a getaway on an e-bike as he vanished into the city’s streets.
While the online chatter surrounding the suspect’s resemblance to Hollywood figures has taken on a humorous tone, the gravity of the situation remains serious.
The NYPD has yet to identify the suspect or unveil any potential motivation behind this high-profile case.
