In June 2024, Goldie Hawn revealed during an appearance on “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” that she and her partner, Kurt Russell, made a permanent move to Palm Desert. The reason for this change was more distressing than anticipated. Hawn disclosed that they had experienced two break-ins at their Los Angeles home, leading to feelings of insecurity.
During her chat with Ripa, Hawn recounted the first break-in, which occurred in 2020 while they were out for dinner. Upon her return, she found her bedroom in disarray. “I walked into my closet, and I just lost it. They had broken in through the balcony and completely breached my door, which is quite secure,” she said. Initially, she hoped they wouldn’t face another incident, but just months later, they did. This time, Russell was not home. “I heard a loud noise upstairs… I thought, ‘What was that?'” she recalled. The following day, they learned they had been targeted again while she was there.
This second break-in was particularly traumatic for Hawn. Neuropsychologist Dr. Sanam Hafeez mentioned that experiencing multiple invasions can severely undermine one’s sense of safety and autonomy. “A home is meant to be a haven; repeated breaches create significant psychological distress,” she stated.
