Atlanta’s cherished radio personality, Wanda Smith, has died at the age of 58, just a day after her birthday. This sad news was announced by Rick Caffey, the senior vice president of V-103 radio in Atlanta.
Smith was married to LaMorris Sellers and leaves behind three children. For more than twenty years, she was a prominent figure in Atlanta’s radio landscape.
Smith began her radio journey in 1998, co-hosting “Frank and Wanda in the Morning” with Frank Ski at V-103.
A Notable Interview
She became a well-known name in the industry, stepping away from her show between 2012 and 2018, before making a brief return, ultimately leaving in 2019.
Her exit was influenced by a controversial interview with comedian Katt Williams in 2018, which sparked a public disagreement after he critiqued her interview style.
Apart from her radio work, Smith was also a talented comedian and writer. She contributed to renowned shows such as Def Comedy Jam and Comicview, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
She frequently performed at the Atlanta Comedy Theater and had roles in various films, including Tyler Perry projects like Madea Goes to Jail and Madea’s Witness Protection, as well as The Drone That Saved Christmas.
“Today, our hearts feel heavy as we mourn the loss of our dear Wanda Smith, who always brought joy and was an integral part of V-103 over the years,” expressed Rick Caffey.
“We send our heartfelt prayers and condolences to her family.”
“Since joining V-103 in 2006, Wanda spread happiness and deeply cared for the Atlanta community.”
“Her influence went beyond laughter; she often worked behind the scenes to help those in need.”
“Rest in peace, Wanda, as you take your place among the stars. You will be missed.”
