Now, Andrew’s status as a working royal is a thing of the past, and his current lifestyle appears rather dismal. Reports from sources suggest he spends his time in the Royal Lodge, “watching TV in a dark room” and only engages in his solitary hobby of daily horse riding from Windsor Castle. His mental health focus seems to be tied to these outings, but his living situation is becoming increasingly precarious.
King Charles has cut off Andrew’s £1 million (around $1.27 million) yearly allowance, and he is no longer receiving funds for his security. Maintaining the expansive Royal Lodge is believed to be unsustainable for him now, particularly since he refuses to move to Frogmore Cottage, previously home to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Insiders warn that if Andrew cannot finance his lifestyle, he may soon find himself in a difficult position—especially since King Charles’s patience is waning. As noted by broadcaster Helena Chard, “Prince Andrew may have been the late Queen Elizabeth’s favorite son, but he is certainly not King Charles’ favorite brother.”
