“The Trump Influence: A Key Factor in Miss Denmark’s Miss Universe Triumph”

'Trump effect' pointed to as a major reason for Miss Denmark's Miss Universe win

The recent 73rd Miss Universe pageant held in Mexico City resulted in a new champion, with discussions of Donald Trump’s election victory potentially influencing the outcome.

Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, a 21-year-old from Denmark, triumphed over more than 120 competitors. This comes after last year’s event faced backlash for including married, plus-sized, and transgender participants.

The 2024 pageant returned to a more traditional format, even though it has been acquired by a Thai media mogul known for supporting trans rights.

Some social media users linked Trump’s electoral success to Theilvig’s victory, believing it reflects a societal shift away from current progressive trends.

Trump wins, and a woman finally wins Miss Universe. The world is healing,” commented one supporter, while another remarked: “It’s the Trump effect in motion.”

“Can we label this Trump’s effect?” posed another user. “I can’t believe it.”

Another noted: “Miss Denmark has just been crowned Miss Universe. It’s the Trump Effect at work. If Kamala had won, the title would’ve gone to a 40-year-old transgender contestant.”

While some fans ascribed Trump’s influence to the pageant results, it should be highlighted that this year did not feature any transgender contestants.

Additionally, the prior Miss Universe title was won by Sheynnis Palacios, marking the first victory for Nicaragua in this competition.

Introducing Victoria Kjaer Theilvig

This year’s titleholder, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, has been active in the pageant scene for several years.

Theilvig previously secured the position of second runner-up at Miss Denmark 2021 and later represented her country in the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant, finishing in the Top 20.

She was appointed as Miss Universe Denmark in September following Emma Heyst‘s withdrawal from competing internationally.

Theilvig is not only a competitive dancer but also a law student, and by winning, she has become the first Miss Universe from Denmark. In the upcoming year, she will engage in social events, advocate for humanitarian causes, and participate in prominent discussions.
