Erica Cerra, a Hallmark star, has experienced notable highs in her life but also faces some difficult challenges. Balancing her motherhood with her acting career proved tough, leading her to focus on family over work. Now that her kids are older, she feels a desire to return to acting, especially after her daughter was born shortly after the cancellation of “Eureka,” the show that made her famous.
This period was particularly painful for Cerra. The unexpected cancellation of her show felt like a significant loss. While adjusting to the responsibilities of motherhood, she also experienced the death of her mother, which intensified her feelings of regret for not spending more time together. As a result, she made a conscious effort to cherish moments with her father, although that time was limited.
A few years later, she tragically lost her father as well. Yet, she found comfort in knowing she had made meaningful memories with him. These events all occurred within a decade, leading Cerra to grapple with overwhelming emotions, including episodes of depression. While she appreciates her blessings, she is also willing to share her experiences with struggles.
Erica Cerra’s Regret After Losing Her Mother
In October 2013, Cerra lost her mother, which took a heavy emotional toll on her. Throughout her life, she often overlooked her mother’s impact on her, an understanding that only came after she herself became a mother. Cerra’s daughter, Talia Serafina, was born in May 2012, just over a year before her mother’s passing.
In 2019, she shared her heartfelt reflections on her mother’s death anniversary via a candid Instagram post. She expressed regret for taking their time together for granted, acknowledging her evolving appreciation for family once she embraced her role as a mother. In an interview with Sharp magazine, Cerra revealed her desire to speak with her deceased mother, even stating that she would choose ghosts over aliens to reconnect.
The Loss of Erica Cerra’s Father
Though losing her mother was difficult, Cerra took comfort in still having her father. Unfortunately, he passed away in May 2020, just under seven years later. She beautifully commemorated him on Instagram, referring to her father as her hero and expressing gratitude for his unwavering support.
As Father’s Day approached, Cerra found herself struggling to balance her grief for her father with celebrating her husband, who is also a wonderful dad. She wrote about this mixed experience on Instagram, highlighting the complexity of her emotions during such times. Despite the sorrow, she found solace in having been present during her father’s last days, especially during the early lockdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic, when she had more time to care for him.
Cerra shares that her father greatly influenced her appreciation for films and TV shows, particularly their mutual love for science fiction, which they often enjoyed watching together.
