Travis Kelce is facing backlash from fans after he broke his own pre-game tradition by dining out with Taylor Swift shortly before a significant game in his career.
The Kansas City Chiefs player was seen in New Orleans with his girlfriend, joined by teammate Patrick Mahomes and his spouse, Brittany, as they prepared to face the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9.
While some considered it a casual outing, others expressed concerns about his focus and dedication to the game, especially since the 35-year-old tight end had previously emphasized the importance of staying focused during Super Bowl week.
“We’ve got one week; we do what we need to do,” Kelce stated on the New Heights podcast. “Then we can party in Vegas for the rest of our lives.”
Nevertheless, just a year later, he seemed to contradict his own advice by dining out just two days before the game, prompting NFL fans to criticize him online.
One user on X.com (formerly Twitter) remarked, “Bad decision. Kelce should be focused on watching film. That outing could have been postponed.”
Another added, “Typically, players refrain from going out the week before the Super Bowl due to its seriousness. I even found an old clip of Kelce saying that.”
