Erica Ash, a talented actor and comedian known for her work on comedy shows like “Mad TV” and “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” has passed away at the age of 46.
Her death in Los Angeles on Sunday was due to cancer, as confirmed by her publicist and her mother, Diann. Described as an amazing woman and skilled entertainer, Ash was appreciated for her sharp wit, humor, and passion for life.
Ash showcased her comedic skills by impersonating prominent figures like Michelle Obama and Condoleezza Rice on shows such as “Mad TV” and “The Big Gay Sketch Show.” She had also appeared in movies like “Scary Movie V,” “Uncle Drew,” and the TV series “Survivor’s Remorse,” produced by LeBron James.
In the show “Real Husbands of Hollywood” on BET, Ash portrayed the ex-wife of Kevin Hart’s character. Despite being initially typecast into similar roles, she aimed to diversify her acting career and make choices that would resonate positively in the future.
Having been part of Broadway and touring productions, Ash’s journey into the entertainment industry took a different turn from her initial plans to study medicine at Emory University. Her success story was a result of taking opportunities that came her way and making bold decisions along the way.
Reflecting on her career path, Ash once mentioned, “One thing led to another, so I tell people I’m the Forrest Gump of my field. I just blindly, by faith, walked through life and said ‘yes’ to things that were presented to me, and it led me here.”
