Hailie Jade Smith, Eminem’s daughter, shares her feelings about the deep emotional effects of her father’s music on her.
On her podcast “Just a Little Shady,” the 28-year-old expressed how intense it was for her to watch Eminem’s latest music video, “Somebody Save Me,” to the point where she could only watch it once.
Acknowledgement of Parents’ Influence
Reflecting on her upbringing with her father, Smith praised her parents for their efforts in raising her, despite the challenges that come with some of Eminem’s older songs that evoke strong emotions in her.
“I definitely cry every time I hear it at all,” she shared.
She further revealed her emotional response to songs like ‘Temporary’ and ‘Mockingbird,’ emphasizing the impact these songs have on her as an adult and the scary realization of how things could have been different.
She mentioned, “if you’ve ever lost an addict or loved one, I feel for you,” showcasing empathy for those who have experienced similar situations.
Eminem’s publicized battle with addiction, including his struggle to relearn how to rap due to the severity of his addiction, adds context to the emotional depth of his music.
