The recent arrest of Justin Timberlake for driving under the influence after a night of drinking at the American Hotel in New York took many by surprise. Despite Timberlake’s known struggles with alcohol abuse, the former NSYNC singer’s apprehension seemed sudden to fans and the entertainment world.
It has come to light that local authorities were aware of Timberlake’s location on the night of the incident. A rookie police officer quickly approached the 43-year-old singer as he was observed weaving through traffic and running a stop sign.
New Information Emerges
A tip from a concerned patron at a Hamptons restaurant alerted the police about Timberlake’s state. The patron warned that Timberlake, visibly intoxicated, might attempt to drive his new BMW after leaving the American Hotel.
The restaurant owner shared, “(They) said Justin was having a lot of drinks, and they told the cop to watch him if he is going to drive,” referring to the unidentified alert from the patron.
Officer Michael Arkinson stopped Timberlake twice that night, initially giving a warning before eventually arresting him. A viral mugshot of Timberlake with bloodshot eyes has since circulated on the internet.
The restaurant owner expressed their belief that Timberlake, a familiar face in the Hamptons, was treated unfairly. They even questioned reports claiming Arkinson was unaware of the singer’s identity. Timberlake addressed the arrest during a tour stop in Chicago, acknowledging his flaws and receiving support from the crowd at the United Center.
