The ongoing intrigue surrounding Tupac Shakur’s murder in 1996 has reignited, with increasing speculation implicating Sean “Diddy” Combs.
New comments from a veteran investigator, alongside a fresh legal representative engaged by Shakur’s family, have sparked renewed public interest in this unresolved case.
What links Diddy to Tupac’s murder?
Sheryl McCollum, an investigator connected to Shakur’s case, suggests that Combs might be linked to both the shooting and a robbery incident at Quad Studios in New York City in 1994, where Shakur was shot.
“This all began in 1994 when Tupac was first shot,” said McCollum in a recent interview with NewsNation.
During the robbery, Combs was reportedly present along with a large group, yet none of them were injured during the ordeal.
“One doesn’t need to shoot someone multiple times to take their possessions,” she noted, pointing out the unusual circumstances of the incident.
She raised concerns that Shakur seemed to be the sole target that night.
“Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs and his entourage of 40 were unharmed. How is it logical for only one person to be targeted?”
Afterward, Shakur publicly accused Combs and Bad Boy Records, including Biggie Smalls, of involvement.
His suspicions grew due to the lack of concern shown by those present when he entered the studio injured.
Reflecting on the 1995 incident, Shakur said in a Vibe magazine interview, “Nobody approached me. It was like nobody wanted to look at me…I recognized Puffy. He understood what I had done for Biggie before he made it big.”
In 1996, Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, a case that continues to be a mystery.
McCollum remarked on the nature of Shakur’s shootings: “Both instances left Tupac trapped—once in an elevator and then in a vehicle—with no escape.”
The puzzling factor, as per McCollum, is the lack of footage from either crime scene.
She posits that only a few individuals would have known Shakur’s location during both incidents, thus narrowing the potential suspects down.
“This indicates that someone close to him knew exactly where he would be,” she stated.
Tupac’s family probing Diddy’s possible links
Combs has consistently denied any connection to the murder.
In a statement made in 2008, he addressed a Los Angeles Times article, asserting, “The story is false… Neither [Biggie] nor I were aware of any attacks before, during, or after.”
Shakur’s family has now recruited attorney Alex Spiro to investigate any possible ties between Combs and the rapper’s demise.
This move follows the September 2023 charges brought against Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former gang leader, regarding his involvement in the 1996 shooting.
Davis has claimed in the past that Combs offered him $1 million to arrange a hit on Shakur, claims that are resurfacing amidst escalating scrutiny.
The mounting allegations against Combs, once a powerful figure in music, are undergoing further investigation as legal controversies grow.
In addition to murder allegations, Combs is also fortifying a defense against multiple sexual abuse claims, with a series of lawsuits from alleged victims accusing him of orchestrating a large-scale criminal enterprise.
