Taylor Swift may not receive a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards, even though she’s considered a strong contender for several major categories.
The star’s album, released in April 2024, has been well-received both critically and commercially. However, she faces stiff competition from Billy Eilish‘s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Beyonce‘s Cowboy Carter, and Charli XCX‘s Brat.
According to Gold Derby, Eilish or Beyonce is favored to win, with predictions suggesting that Swift may not even take home a single award, especially after she was overlooked for Best Music Film for The Eras Tour.
Adding to the concern, a tarot reader has indicated clouds on the horizon for Swift, despite her album’s immediate success of 1.6 million copies sold in just one day.
Inbaal Honigman remarked to Casino.org, “The calm Four of Swords Tarot card suggests that this awards show might not yield significant wins for Taylor Swift.”
This potential loss would mark a slight dip for Swift following her remarkable achievements since 2023, which included the launch of her Eras Tour, grossing over two billion dollars, and releasing Taylor’s Versions of Speak Now and 1989.
Furthermore, her documentary about the Eras Tour shattered records, taking in $261.7 million, and she was recognized as TIME Person of the Year while topping Billboard’s Power 100 for music industry leaders in 2024.
When are the 2025 Grammys?
Gold Derby also anticipates that Sabrina Carpenter‘s Espresso will win Record of the Year, with Eilish’s Birds of a Feather likely to secure Song of the Year. Chappell Roan is tipped as Best New Artist.
The 2025 Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 2, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the home of the NBA’s Lakers. The event will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+, with Trevor Noah serving as the host.
