Ryan Murphy incorporated Travis Kelce into his latest show based on Kelce’s celebrity status. The NFL star’s charisma helped him pitch himself to Murphy for a role (a clear benefit of being in the limelight). In a conversation with ET while advertising his FX series “Grotesquerie,” Murphy shared, “I initially didn’t know Travis, thinking the meeting was just casual.” He added, “His enthusiasm for acting impressed me, as I believe a star’s essence transcends all domains, and he shines in every.” Even though there was no initial role planned for Kelce, Murphy eventually offered him the character Ed Laclan in the horror drama, which features Niecy Nash and Courtney B. Vance.
Travis’s surprise at landing a significant role in “Grotesquerie” matched public reaction. “I felt overwhelmed and somewhat shocked by Murphy’s willingness to cast me in such an important role,” Kelce mentioned during his “New Heights” podcast prior to the show debut. He noted Murphy’s early confidence in him, stating, “Murphy instilled a belief in my ability during our first chat,” adding, “I hope I don’t disappoint him.”
Is Taylor Swift likely to work with Ryan Murphy?
Despite his lack of acting background, Travis Kelce is successfully transitioning into acting. What about his famous partner, Taylor Swift? Swift has a few acting credits outside of music videos, such as “Valentine’s Day” and “Cats,” and she may also follow Kelce into a Ryan Murphy project, that is, when her schedule allows. Murphy expressed his admiration for Swift, stating that he wouldn’t hesitate to work with her if the opportunity arose: “I think she’s fantastic, and if she ever finds the time, I’d be eager to collaborate,” he mentioned to The Hollywood Reporter.
For now, Swift seems supportive of Kelce’s move into acting. In a chat with E! News, Murphy relayed that Swift has encouraged Kelce’s interest in acting. “Our discussions confirmed she supports his ambitions, encouraging him to explore this path,” Murphy said in September 2024. He expressed excitement over this support and praised Swift, noting, “I admire her as well.” Interestingly, Murphy revealed that discussing Swift with Kelce was more challenging than one might think. “I felt quite shy initiating that topic with him,” he shared. However, he also mentioned Kelce’s respectful attitude toward his girlfriend’s fame, noting, “They’ve become a captivating couple, capturing the world’s interest,” he said.
