Wrexham AFC Players’ Promotion Wish List for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney

Wrexham stars eyeing promotion: What they want from Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney if they go up

As Wrexham AFC pursues a third promotion in a row, two key players have shared an unexpected request they have for owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney should they achieve their target.

Since the Hollywood duo took over the Welsh club in early 2021, Wrexham has enjoyed a remarkable rise from the National League to League One in just two seasons.

Currently, the team has its sights set on a Championship promotion for the first time in over two decades.

Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee, two standout performers last season, were recently honored with spots in the PFA League Two Team of the Year.

During their presence at the Professional Footballers’ Association event in Manchester, the pair was asked about their desired reward from Reynolds and McElhenney in case they secure another promotion this season.

Mullin jokingly suggested a less extravagant but equally memorable prize: “Back to Butlins, we’ll go to Butlins this time so that everyone stops speaking about it.”

This light-hearted comment referenced the team’s widely publicized celebratory trip to Las Vegas earlier in the summer, a gift from their Hollywood owners after clinching promotion to League Two.

Wrexham’s Goals for the Upcoming Season

Despite the jestful ask, Mullin emphasized the team’s aspirations for the 2024-25 season.

“Just to go out and continue doing what we’ve been doing for the last three years,” stated Mullin to SPORTbible.

“We’ve got to go out and make the town proud. Keep doing that and the results will hopefully come on the back of that. Just keep doing what we’re doing and be happy doing it.”

With a solid start of four points from their first two matches, Wrexham is showing promise in League One and is considered one of the front-runners for promotion to the Championship.

With a squad brimming with seasoned players and unwavering support from their famous proprietors, the club’s extraordinary journey seems to be far from its conclusion.

Whether a visit to Las Vegas or an excursion to Butlins, one thing is certain: should Wrexham secure a third consecutive promotion, Reynolds and McElhenney will have to come up with a creative way to honor their team’s continual success.
