Fans are expressing concern for Zayn Malik after he canceled his performance in the UK, scheduled for December 2. Many believe he is still coping with the aftermath of Liam Payne‘s tragic death.
Payne tragically died in Buenos Aires on October 16, following a fall from a hotel, with reports indicating issues related to substance abuse and a struggle with mental health.
This news was a shock to the music world, especially for his One Direction bandmates, who shared heartfelt tributes recognizing his talent and the loss they felt.
Just hours before his performance, the 35-year-old announced he was unable to go on stage, leaving fans disappointed as he admitted that his voice was not up to par.
“I’m so sorry to do this,” Malik expressed on Instagram. “My voice just isn’t there tonight, and without it, I can’t perform. I’m really sorry to let you down, especially with such short notice.”
“I had hoped to perform until the last moment. After some rest tonight, I’m hopeful I’ll be back tomorrow. My deepest apologies, Newcastle. Love you all,” he added.
Payne’s funeral drew together his former bandmates and numerous other celebrities to pay their respects on November 20.
Reports indicate that Malik is significantly affected by this loss. An insider shared, “Liam’s passing has deeply impacted Zayn. He has been facing ongoing struggles and is doing his best to manage his mental health.”
“This requires him to prioritize his well-being, even if it disappoints his fans,” the source added.
Are refunds available for fans?
Malik had earlier performed in Wolverhampton, Payne’s hometown, intending to pay tribute to him on stage.
However, that tribute was not possible during the concert in North-East England on December 3. Fans have the option to get refunds if they are unable to attend a rescheduled performance.
“We apologize for the late notice,” an announcement at Newcastle City Hall stated. “Zayn hoped to perform, but it’s no longer feasible. Please reach out to your point of purchase for reschedules or refunds. If you’re accompanied by parents or guardians, please remain in the auditorium until they arrive.”
