Halle Berry Reflects on Uncomfortable Oscars Kiss With Adrien Brody

Halle Berry had some strong feelings about Adrien Brody’s surprise kiss during their 2002 Oscar win. During an August 2017 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Berry revealed that she had no prior knowledge of the kiss and was left feeling completely taken aback. “I was like, ‘what the f**k is happening right now?’ That is what was going through my mind,” she said. Berry also mentioned that she was aware of the feeling of being out of her body due to her win the year before, which made her go with the moment. When asked how the kiss was, Berry replied, “I don’t know, I was too focused on what the f**k was going on. I don’t even know.” It turns out that Brody almost didn’t attend the Oscars that year due to Jack Nicholson’s petition for the best actor nominees to boycott the show in protest of the Iraq war. However, Brody chose to go and make history with Berry.
