It feels like we were just saying goodbye to the romantic hopefuls of “Love Is Blind” season four, but on June 17 at the TUDUM fan event, Netflix released their first look at “Love Is Blind” season five. In the teaser, the show focuses on just one couple as they start to open up about their pasts and get vulnerable — all while sitting in the show’s famed pods.
Every season of “Love Is Blind” focuses on couples from a specific geographic area (season four was Seattle), but Netflix hasn’t said which location season five is based out of yet. On June 17, hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey also announced that soon Netflix watchers will be able to stream “Love Is Blind: UK” and “Love Is Blind: Sweden,” too.
“Love Is Blind” is Netflix’s most prolific dating show, and it’s responsible for quite a few real marriages. Two season one couples — Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton; and Amber Pike and Matt Barnett — are still together. Both season two marriages ended in divorce, but the two couples who tied the knot in season three are still married, as are all three couples who got married in season four. Fans will have to wait and see which duos form in season five.
The new season comes amidst allegations from former cast members, published by Business Insider in April, that conditions on set were abysmal and that they had no mental health support. Season two cast members Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson went on the record about their treatment by the show, which they alleged included ignoring mental health red flags. Kinetic Content, who produces the show, said in a statement per Variety at the time, “The wellbeing of our participants is of paramount importance to Kinetic. We have rigorous protocols in place to care for each person before, during, and after filming.”
Ahead, here’s what we know about “Love Is Blind” season 5.
