J-Hope of the popular K-pop group BTS will soon be enlisting in the Korean military, but he’s leaving fans with a lot of hope for his music career. On Feb. 26, Big Hit Entertainment announced J-Hope’s enlistment and also revealed that he would be releasing a new single titled “On the Street” as a gift to ARMYs. The song is a tribute to J-Hope’s roots in street dance, which is where his dream of becoming an artist began.
On March 2, it was revealed that the single is actually a collaboration with J-Hope’s idol, J. Cole. The teaser for the music video showed J-Hope walking towards the edge of a New York City rooftop, only to have J. Cole appear when he turns around.
J-Hope has long admired Cole and has even interpolated his song “Born Sinner” in the 2022 track “Born Singer” off BTS’s anthology album “Proof.” In an interview for Disney+ Korea, J-Hope spoke of Cole’s influence on his artistry, saying that he was his muse and that he still respects him.
J-Hope’s “On the Street,” featuring J. Cole, will be released at midnight on March 3.
