Janelle Monáe Returns with ‘Make Me Feel’ & ‘Django Jane’

Janelle Monáe is able to share her “Emotion Picture” with the world.

Five years since her final album The Electric Lady, the multi-faceted singer returns with “Make Me Feel” and “Django Jane,” the primary two singles off her upcoming third solo album, Dirty Computer.

The funky “Make Me Feel” takes inspiration from Monáe’s late idol Prince with its classic vibes. The colourful, fashion-forward video, directed by Alan Ferguson (Beyoncé, Solange), captures the ’80s music and dance revolution.

On the anthemic “Django Jane,” Monáe celebrates black girls and black tradition with an unapologetic circulation, whereas delivering a message about id. The video was directed by Andrew Donoho and Chuck Lightning, with further vagina monologue footage by Lacey Duke.

In an interview with Beats 1, Monáe opened up in regards to the “extremely vulnerable” album, which relies on an idea she’s had previous to her debut The ArchAndriod. “I’m actually terrified. It’s such an honest body of work and I don’t know how people are going to react to it,” she instructed Zane Lowe. “I know that there are a lot of things that I haven’t discussed and I think this is the album that you’ll get an opportunity to get a closer glimpse into my mind and into my heart.”

Janelle has been within the studio with Julia Michaels and Chuck Lightning engaged on her “Emotion Picture” Dirty Computer, which will even embody a story movie. The album is now obtainable for pre-order and arrives all over the place April 27.
