Jennifer Hudson and Reba McEntire Perform a Soulful Rendition of Aretha Franklin's "Respect"

When Jennifer Hudson welcomed Reba McEntire to her show on March 29th, it was almost certain that they would treat us to an amazing duet. After discussing their admiration for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, Hudson asked McEntire if they could sing a bit of her hit song “Respect.” The two vocalists then proceeded to give an incredible performance that had the audience on their feet, singing and clapping along. They took turns singing lines before coming together for the chorus in perfect harmony.

Both Hudson and McEntire have a personal connection to Franklin and the song. McEntire has performed “Respect” multiple times, including at the 1988 CMA Awards, while Hudson portrayed Franklin in the 2021 biopic of the same name, for which she won numerous awards. It’s no surprise that Hudson sang the song with such ease and confidence.
