Mark Consuelos joining Kelly Ripa as the new co-host of “Live” had its advantages, such as their natural chemistry, but it also had a few drawbacks, like the dynamic becoming stale. To combat this, Consuelos had a creative plan: to keep things fresh, Ripa and Consuelos would have to keep each other in the dark about what they had planned for the show. Despite having worked together on shows in the past, Ripa was not worried about their relationship while co-hosting. She explained that they had been careful not to bring work home with them. The two had done a great job of incorporating their home life into the show, and in 2019, when they had spent time apart, Consuelos joked about using too much cologne. Ripa also shared her thoughts on why their relationship had lasted so long, saying that they didn’t compete with each other and that neither of them had egos when it came to the other.
