Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated true-crime film “Killers of the Flower Moon” is set to hit theaters this October before streaming on Apple TV+. Featuring an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brendan Fraser, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, and Jesse Plemons, the movie is based on David Grann’s bestselling nonfiction book of the same name. Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the story follows the Osage Nation as they are targeted and murdered by a serial killer due to their ties to oil. The investigation into these murders eventually led to the formation of the modern FBI.
Scorsese worked closely with the Osage Nation on the film, and Lily Gladstone has said that their conversations changed his vision for “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The ensemble cast also includes Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Cara Jade Myers, Janae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbott Jr., and Jack White.
The movie will be released in theaters on October 6th, 2023 in a limited release before going wide on October 20th. After its theatrical run, it will be available to stream on Apple TV+. It is expected to premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in May and is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2023.
