Amanda Seyfried, known for her role as Sophie in the first two films, has hinted at a prospective cast member for Mamma Mia 3 — and it’s pop sensation and actress Sabrina Carpenter.
During a recent chat with ABC News, Seyfried, now 38, expressed her interest in having Carpenter, who is 25, take on the role of her film daughter. This discussion sparked when interviewer Will Ganss pointed out Carpenter’s fantastic rendition of the classic ABBA song “Mamma Mia” at a concert. While the age difference might seem unusual, as Seyfried is only 13 years older than Carpenter, Seyfried humorously brushed off the concern, saying, “Old age makeup for me. I don’t mind.”

Seyfried’s willingness to consider Carpenter for the role demonstrates her commitment to making Mamma Mia 3 happen. While there’s no official word on Mamma Mia 3 yet, producer Judy Craymer has hinted that a third film is in development, stating, “I know there’s a trilogy there.” With talk swirling and cast members like Christine Baranski revealing she knows of potential plot ideas, fans have plenty of reasons to believe another sequel is on the way.
