The concluding season of Star Trek: Picard offered viewers a trip down memory lane with beloved characters, while also presenting some unexpected developments. However, Paramount chose not to move forward with this idea and instead proposed another unnamed spinoff to Ryan. At Spacecon, Ryan acknowledged the concept but revealed it did not resonate with her. “There has been talk… It just wasn’t me… It didn’t feel like the right kind of thing,” she mentioned, signaling her openness to future possibilities while being discerning about the Star Trek roles she considers.

Fans can catch up on the latest season of Star Trek: Lower Decks available on Paramount+, while Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to air its third season in 2025. Additionally, Michelle Yeoh will feature in Star Trek: Section 31, debuting in early 2025. A new series titled Starfleet Academy, taking place in the 32nd century, is also in the works, boasting a cast that includes notable figures like Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti.
Even though Star Trek: Legacy might not become a reality, the franchise looks to have a bright future with these upcoming series and films. Fans of Ryan are still hopeful for more of Seven of Nine, and she wisely notes, “never say never.”
