Swifties support each other, and this time it involves Paul Rudd and a fellow Taylor Swift fan. The stars aligned for 24-year-old indie musician Claud after they spotted Paul Rudd in the VIP tent at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Claud approached the actor with a very specific favor in mind, and what followed was pure magic. Thanks to their quick introduction, Claud sent Rudd their new album, “Supermodels,” explaining that one of the songs was actually inspired by his “cool and confident” energy. After listening to the record, Rudd agreed to make a cameo in the music video for the track “A Good Thing,” dressing up as a disgruntled mailman and dancing along in the middle of the street.
“I was like, ‘Paul Rudd, this sounds kind of weird but there’s a song on my album — the song’s called ‘Paul Rudd,'” Claud explained in a July 16 TikTok. “He was so nice about it and he gave me his email and was like, ‘Send it to me. I’d love to hear your album.'” According to the musician, who’s currently signed to Phoebe Bridgers’s label Saddest Factory Records, Rudd responded and said he “loved” the album, prompting Claud to officially ask if he’d be willing to make an appearance in their upcoming music video. Against all odds, Rudd was totally game.
“He came for the whole entire day,” Claud said on TikTok. “He stayed for like five hours.” In the video, Rudd makes a departure from his usual confident persona, playing a single and frustrated mailman with an affinity for his pet ferret. Despite his faults, Rudd couldn’t help but make his clumsy character seem charming anyway. “We shot that whole scene and danced outside,” Claud said. “It was the best day of my life.”
