Ricky Martin’s party gene runs in the family. On July 17, the singer’s twin sons, 14-year-old Matteo and Valentino, surprised their dad by joining him on stage for the first time during a concert in Switzerland. Martin, who is currently touring with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull on The Trilogy Tour, clearly did not expect his kids to pop up during the set, and the look on his face says it all.
“What a beautiful surprise!”
“What a beautiful surprise! When my twins jumped on stage with me for the first time in Locarno, Switzerland,” Martin captioned footage of the sweet moment on Instagram. Excited to be on stage with their dad, the boys immediately started jumping to the beat and hyping up the screaming crowd. Martin took a moment to laugh and compose himself before hopping back on the mic to finish his set.
In the comments section, fans noted how happy they were to see Martin so joyful at the show, which comes just weeks after the singer and his husband of six years, Jwan Yosef, announced their divorce. “Your three happy faces are the best. What beauty,” one fan wrote in Spanish, while another added, “What a beauty and what a thrill at the same time!!!! They have so much fun with you.”
Yosef and Martin first met in 2015 when the latter was a single father to Matteo and Valentino. The couple shared the news of their separation in a joint Instagram post on July 6. “For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children preserving and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all of these wonderful years,” they wrote.
Though the couple have separated, they remain friendly and continue to raise their children together, including their 4-year-old daughter, Lucía, and 3-year-old son, Renn. According to People, Martin and Yosef are seeking joint physical and legal custody of Renn and Lucía as part of the divorce filing.
