The Most Anticipated Movies of 2023, From “The Marvels” to “The Color Purple”

It’s been a wild year at the movies already. Of course, Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” made huge waves at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year. Together with Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” it was a major box office event.

But they’re not the only movies we’ve loved on screen this year. We got the fifth Indiana Jones film, the seventh Mission: Impossible film, and the third Magic Mike. Halle Bailey made “The Little Mermaid” all her own, and MCU fans have been treated to two films so far.

Although movie release dates have done some shuffling amid the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes, the last four months of the year do have many movies we can’t wait to see. We’re still gearing up for heavy hitters like Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the sports drama “The Iron Claw,” and “Poor Things.” There are also movies we expect to be major box office successes like “Wonka” and “Saw X.” There’s the new upcoming Disney musical “Wish,” plenty of horror films for spooky-movie fans, and some highly anticipated Netflix titles.
