Doan Hoang Hai, a 73-year-old from Ben Tre province, achieved a significant milestone by earning a doctorate in Business Administration from Tra Vinh University after over five years of academic pursuit as a research student.
Hai attributed his motivation to the support and learning opportunities he found in Tra Vinh, stating, “The land of Tra Vinh sheltered me during the resistance war, and now it continues to be a place where I can pursue knowledge and contribute back to society.”
As the oldest doctoral candidate at Tra Vinh University, Hai emphasized the value of continuous learning and self-improvement as a way to contribute to society and inspire future generations. He expressed pride in his children and grandchildren who followed his example by pursuing higher education.
Despite facing age-related challenges, Hai persisted through the demanding academic journey, supported by his family and professors, to complete his dissertation on time. His research focused on human resource development in enterprises, drawing from his extensive experience in the telecommunications industry and addressing the industry’s adaptation to the digital age.
With Vietnam transitioning into the digital age and Industry 4.0, Hai’s research aims to offer insights and solutions for human resource development in the telecommunications sector to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
Looking forward, Hai intends to continue contributing to academia and society by writing about the history of post and telecommunications in Can Tho City and ethical standards for business leaders. He also plans to teach courses on entrepreneurship and digital business at the university level.
Hai, a Ba Tri district native with a disability rating of 2/4 and a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Ben Tre, has a commendable history of service as a war veteran. Over 50 years ago, he faithfully carried out his duties in Duyen Hai district, Tra Vinh province, under the Saigon-Gia Dinh Party Committee’s Radio Information Department with the unwavering support of local residents.
