On the afternoon of September 20, the Miss Cosmo 2024 pageant hosted a special event called Best of Vietnam at the Tea Factory 1927 in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province. This exciting occasion highlighted the rich blend of culture and fashion.
Set against the tranquil backdrop of the factory, 58 contestants presented stunning hand-painted Ao Dai, each inspired by the distinct symbols of their regions. The designs skillfully merged contemporary fabrics with classic silk, showcasing a beautiful array of styles that celebrated both diversity and grace. The careful tailoring and artistry made these Ao Dai seem incredibly luxurious.
Designer Trung Dinh, along with talented craftsmen, infused life into the Ao Dai by illustrating renowned cultural and architectural icons, including the Pyramids of Egypt, the Petronas Towers of Malaysia, the Eiffel Tower in France, the Taj Mahal from India, and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. This added a dynamic flair to the fashion display, highlighting the elegance and spirit of each represented nation.
The contestants of Miss Cosmo 2024 moved gracefully in their flowing Ao Dai, embodying the delicate charm associated with these traditional garments. Many were wearing the Ao Dai for the very first time, yet they managed to exude its essence through their elegant movements and poses.
Vietnam’s representative, Bui Thi Xuan Hanh, made a striking impression in her ornate Ao Dai, which featured extended wings that beautifully represented the grandeur of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. Her outfit garnered mixed reviews, with some spectators feeling that she received preferential treatment, overshadowing the elegance of other contestants.
According to designer Trung Dinh, he and his team dedicated months to design the outfits for contestants from other nations before focusing on the garment for Vietnam’s representative.
“I had more time to devote to Vietnam’s Ao Dai, and perhaps I got a little carried away in my efforts,” Trung Dinh reflected.
He expressed his regret over the potential perception of favoritism but hoped that audiences recognized the creativity and effort behind the design.
Alongside the fashion event, contestants participated in various local activities in Lam Dong, such as a traditional tea ceremony and exploring the Gong culture of Central Vietnam. The grand finale for Miss Cosmo 2024 is scheduled for October 5 in Ho Chi Minh City.
