American travelers, Sydnie Ito and Hans Li, residing in Singapore, recently explored Vietnam, particularly HCM City. During their three-day visit, they indulged in a variety of local cuisines.
Among the culinary experiences, they were amazed by a bowl of pho bo priced at $100, approximately VND2.5 million, at a restaurant in Ton That Dam Market, district 1. The special pho requires advance ordering.
The $100 package for two included a bowl of pho, a pho-infused cocktail, two molecular pho balls, and banh my (bread).
Expecting a large bowl of pho, they were served a multi-course meal with pho-related dishes, starting with cocktail and pho balls, and ending with the bread that had wagyu beef, pate, ribs, and herbs.
The meticulously arranged ingredients featured various types of beef, including cow marrow, beef balls, underdone beef, American beef loin, and fresh wagyu.
Noodles came separately along with condiments like chili sauce, black bean sauce, truffle sauce, lemon, fresh chili, and an egg yolk bowl. Sydnie praised the handmade noodles and flavorful broth.
After finishing the pho, they savored fish sauce flavored ice cream paired with Phu Quoc pepper, offering a unique combination. They commended the restaurant’s decor, cozy ambiance, and distinctive dining experience.
