Exploring Artistic Creations from the Southeast Region

Art exhibition highlights artists from southeast region
The Museum of Bình Dương Province in Thủ Dầu Một City is currently showcasing 205 paintings and sculptures created by 172 talented artists from the southeast region.

An annual exhibition titled Triển Lãm Mỹ Thuật Khu Vực Đông Nam Bộ (Art Exhibition of the Southeast Region) is hosted by the Việt Nam Fine Arts Association and the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This event serves to present new pieces by artists from provinces including Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu, Bình Phước, Bình Thuận, Đắk Nông, Đồng Nai, Lâm Đồng, Ninh Thuận, Tây Ninh, and Bình Dương, enhancing the exposure of their creativity and enriching the fine arts scene in the region.

Various artwork at the exhibition showcases diverse styles like surrealist, abstract, semi-abstract, and impressionistic, featuring materials such as oil, lacquer, watercolor, wood, stone, and copper.

The exhibited pieces depict a range of subjects including the nation’s beauty, lifestyle, traditional and cultural values, as well as socio-economic progress, encompassing portraits and still life compositions.

Ngô Phước Chánh, deputy chairman of the Bình Dương Literature and Arts Association, emphasized, “After a dedicated year of creation, artists from the southeast region present their finest works at this exhibition, fostering encounters to exchange art-making experiences.”

With a total of 303 submissions by 202 artists, the 2024 showcase awarded Nguyễn Hoài Huyền Vũ the first prize for the sculpture Kén (Cocoon) made from iron and wood, and conferred the second prize upon Phạm Thị Hồng Xuyến for the oil painting Chăm Chỉ (Hardworking), both hailing from Bình Dương.
