An extraordinary gathering of 100 supercars is set to take place, featuring an impressive collection of rare and high-priced vehicles from 40 different countries.
The rally kicks off on September 14 at Le Loi Avenue in Ho Chi Minh City and will journey through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, culminating on September 23. This year’s event celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Gumball 3000.
Le Loi Street will become a showcase for these elite supercars, many of which are considered rare collectibles. The lineup includes renowned brands such as Porsche, Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Rolls-Royce.
Participants hail from various fields including music, art, royalty, sports, gaming, YouTube, and entrepreneurship.
Leading the convoy is Mr. Maximillion Cooper, the founder of Gumball 3000, who will be driving a Lamborghini SVJ alongside YouTuber James Walker.
Among the distinguished guests is Prince HRH Moe Al Thani from Qatar, who will cruise in a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, alongside football icon Patrice Evra also in a Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Australian YouTuber Lazarbeam and British YouTuber Vikkstar from Sidemen will drive a Land Rover Defender, while DailyDrivenExotics from the USA will participate with a Lamborghini SVJ.
The only two Vietnamese participants are Mr. Sang Tran from Gulfstream Inc. in Canada and Mr. Tri Nguyen from the Not Polish Company in the USA.
Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu, chairman of Trung Nguyen Coffee Group, will showcase 18 luxury cars, including multiple Ferraris and two Ford GTs valued at over 120 billion VND.
Mr. Cooper remarked: “Of the 500 participants, many are visiting Vietnam for the first time. We aim to create unforgettable moments and promote positivity, regardless of the event’s brief duration.”
Each supercar is paired with a team of 2-3 drivers, who have participated in fundraising for the Gumball 3000 Fund. This initiative supports youth projects globally, including in Vietnam, with the team raising the most funds leading the rally from Ho Chi Minh City.
During a press briefing, Mr. Cooper expressed compassion for the Vietnamese victims of recent natural disasters, which led to scaling back the event, eliminating the music festival segment.
Furthermore, Mr. Cooper has initiated a fundraising effort to aid recovery from storm number 3, with donations, including $10,000 from Mr. Sang Tran and Mr. Tri Nguyen, to be announced during the 25th-anniversary ceremony at Thong Nhat Hall – Independence Palace.
In preparation, the supercars were transported to Vietnam two weeks prior and assembled in Binh Duong, with efforts coordinated by teams from both local and Malaysia. Some cars underwent rewrapping by Vietnamese teams to meet international standards.
Founded in 1999, Gumball 3000 is a 3,000 km road event focused on enjoyment rather than competition, adhering to defined speed regulations. Over the past 25 years, it has attracted immense global interest, featuring nearly 70 participants, including some of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
