Hanoi Limits Traffic for Urgent Buddha Relic Procession 2025

On May 13, officials from the Traffic Division of the Hanoi Police announced that there would be limitations on vehicles weighing over 500 kg for transporting goods and on passenger vehicles that carry more than 25 people (with exceptions for buses, garbage trucks, emergency vehicles, and those permitted for the Vesak event).

Schedule for traffic restrictions and impacted roads:

On May 13 (2:00 PM – 4:30 PM): Vehicle restrictions will be enforced on Vo Van Kiet (in front of Noi Bai Airport), Vo Nguyen Giap, Nhat Tan Bridge, Vo Chi Cong, Ring Road 2 (from Vo Chi Cong to Dao Tan), Dao Tan, Kim Ma, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Le Duan (from Nguyen Thai Hoc to Tran Nhan Tong), Tran Nhan Tong (from Le Duan to Quang Trung), Tran Binh Trong, and Da Tuong.

On May 13 (6:30 PM – 9:00 PM): Restrictions will apply to Ly Thuong Kiet (from Phan Boi Chau to Hang Bai), Hang Bai, Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Thai To, and Ba Trieu (from Hang Khay to Ly Thuong Kiet).

From May 14 to 16 (5:30 AM – 10:30 PM each day): Restrictions on Quan Su (from Ly Thuong Kiet to Hai Ba Trung), Tran Hung Dao (from Quang Trung to Le Duan), Yet Kieu, Tran Binh Trong, Nguyen Du, Tran Quoc Toan (from Yet Kieu to Quang Trung), and Ly Thuong Kiet (from Phan Boi Chau to Hoa Lo – Da Tuong) will be in effect.

Quan Su Street (from Tran Hung Dao to Ly Thuong Kiet) will be closed to all vehicles except those with permits for the Vesak event.

On May 17 (5:00 AM – 7:30 AM): Restrictions will affect Ly Thuong Kiet (from Hoa Lo to Le Duan), Le Duan, Giai Phong, and Do Muoi (from Ngoc Hoi to the entrance of the Hanoi-Ninh Binh expressway).

On May 21 (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM): Limitations will be placed on Do Muoi (from the entrance of the Hanoi-Ninh Binh expressway to Ngoc Hoi), Giai Phong, Nga Tu Vong, Truong Chinh, Ring Road 2 (from Truong Chinh to Nga Tu So), Lang, Ring Road 2, Vo Chi Cong, Nhat Tan Bridge, and Vo Nguyen Giap.

These initiatives are designed to ensure the smooth and respectful conduct of the Buddha relic procession and associated Vesak celebrations, while also minimizing traffic disruptions throughout the city.
