A touching video went viral on social media, capturing a man in tears while enjoying a bowl of vermicelli. It was revealed that he was a motorbike taxi driver treating himself to a nice meal on his birthday for the first time.

The video quickly garnered over 1 million views and numerous comments within days of being shared online.

The man in the video is Do Van Son, hailing from Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and celebrating his 22nd birthday by indulging in a delicious bowl of bun rieu (vermicelli with sour crab soup) for the first time.

Normally, Son’s birthdays were ordinary days filled with responsibilities like attending school, working, and returning to his modest rented room in HCM City, having a simple meal before resting.

When dining out, Son usually stuck to inexpensive options like bread or vegetarian rice, never spending more than VND20,000.

However, on his 22nd birthday, Son decided to treat himself to something special. He started the day early, prepared coffee, bought ingredients to cook, enjoyed a small celebration with a flan and candles, and later headed out to work as a motorbike taxi driver.

After finishing his work, he splurged on a bowl of vermicelli, costing nearly VND100,000, a significant amount considering his usual spending habits.

Reflecting on the rare indulgence, Son couldn’t hold back his emotions as he enjoyed his meal. He expressed his aspirations to work harder to afford such luxuries more often.

Son left his hometown for HCM City at 18 to study and support himself. Despite his family not being financially struggling in their hometown, Son is determined to earn for his own needs and education in the city, without relying on his parents’ financial support.

In addition to his work as a motorbike taxi driver, Son also sells bread and pyramidal rice dumplings on the streets in the evenings, often catering to the less fortunate individuals.

His dedication allows him to earn around VND300,000-350,000 per day, which he often utilizes to help those in need.

Since the video of Son’s birthday meal touched many, people have shown support by purchasing his food products and entrusting him with acts of kindness towards others in need, showcasing a heartwarming display of empathy.
