Severe flooding hit various spots in Hanoi at 10 PM, with areas like Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Tuan, and Nguyen Xien streets submerged. The floodwater left vehicles stranded, causing severe traffic disruptions.
Reports from the Vrain app, a rain measuring tool, showed the highest rainfalls at 86.2 mm in Mai Dinh, Soc Son District; 66.8 mm in Lien Mac, Bac Tu Liem District; and 59.6 mm in Vong Xuyen, Phuc Tho District. Many other areas experienced over 40 mm of rainfall.
A video shared by Nguyen Quoc Trung on social media depicted vehicles struggling on Nhat Tan Bridge, with drivers using hazard lights and slowing down to protect motorcyclists from the strong winds.
Streets Flooded and Traffic Affected:
– Nguyen Tuan Street witnessed vehicles stalling in the flooded sections.
– Nguyen Trai Street, near the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, had water levels reaching about 50 cm.
– The entire campus courtyard at the University of Natural Sciences was submerged.
– Roads surrounding My Dinh Stadium were also flooded, leading to speed reductions for vehicles.
The heavy rain causing flooding led to disrupted traffic and significant inconvenience for residents and commuters throughout the city.
