Universities in Vietnam have set surprisingly high minimum scores for various majors. For example, the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities requires a score of 28.88 for Journalism major applicants, while other majors have benchmarks ranging from 28.1 to 28.33.
Similarly, the HCM City University of Education and Sai Gon University have set minimum scores ranging from 27.1 to 28.6 for different education majors.
The HCM City Law University requires a minimum score of 27.27 for students applying to the Law Faculty.
On the other hand, the Hanoi University of Education has the highest benchmark scores, with 29.3 for certain education majors.
Other prestigious universities also have high minimum scores, with requirements of 29 for various majors like Public Relations, South Korean Studies, Chinese Studies, and more.
Reasons for these high scores include easier exam questions compared to previous years, an increase in the number of exam takers, and fewer universities enrolling students based on these exams.
Experts have raised concerns about the fairness of these high benchmarks, particularly for students who performed well in their high school finals but still did not meet the university admission requirements.
