Hue is gearing up for the 2025 National Tourism Year, expecting to attract around 5 million tourists and generate over 11 trillion VND (around $451 million) in tourism revenue.
On December 31, a press conference was held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism alongside Thua Thien Hue Province’s People’s Committee to unveil the 2025 National Tourism Year and the Hue Festival.
This year’s National Tourism event in Hue is a significant occasion that integrates cultural, economic, and tourism efforts on both the national and international stage.
It also marks the 50th anniversary of Thua Thien Hue’s liberation and acknowledges Hue’s status as a centrally governed city.
This is the second time Hue will host this prestigious tourism event.
During the press conference, Nguyen Trung Khanh, the Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, underscored the strategic importance of Hue.
As part of the central economic hub and a key stop on the East-West Economic Corridor, Hue is crucial to the “Central Heritage Road” tourism path.
These factors make it an attractive destination for travelers both from Vietnam and abroad.
In 2024, Hue saw a surge in tourism with over 3.9 million visitors, up nearly 22% from 2023.
This included 1.45 million international guests, representing a 17% increase, and 2.5 million domestic tourists, marking a 25% rise.
The total tourism revenue for 2024 reached approximately 7.9 trillion VND (about $324 million), reflecting a 20% growth compared to the previous year.
The upcoming 2025 National Tourism Year and Hue Festival will feature four seasonal themes: “Spring in the Ancient Capital,” “Summer Radiance at the Citadel,” “Hue in Autumn,” and “Winter in Hue.”
These themes will include over 170 events organized at both national and provincial levels.
With such varied programming, Hue aims to bring in between 4.8 and 5 million visitors in 2025, with international tourists expected to make up 38–40% of total arrivals.
The anticipated revenue exceeding 11 trillion VND is expected to significantly benefit the local economy.
This initiative aims to stimulate socio-economic development, attract tourism investments, and foster the creation of innovative tourism experiences.
These efforts will play a vital role in the sustainable economic and social growth of Hue.
