On October 25, the District 12 Police, along with officers from Hiep Thanh Ward, began inquiries and inspections at Quan Am Shelter, located on Nguyen Thi Bup Street.
Reports indicate that two women, Ms. T. (31) and Ms. A. (33), approached local officials expressing their inability to visit their children, whom they left at the shelter, raising alarm that their kids could be “missing.”
The mothers revealed that they had reached out to Quan Am Shelter during their pregnancies in 2023 due to challenging situations. After giving birth in April, the shelter took in and looked after their infants.
Initially, the shelter required both women to sign an agreement promising not to reclaim their children until they turned 18 years old. Subsequently, each received a financial support of VND 6 million (approximately $235).
Up until recently, the mothers had been visiting their children regularly at the shelter.
However, since early September, both have been unable to see their kids. They attempted multiple methods to contact the shelter, but staff members have been unresponsive.
Additionally, other parents are experiencing similar issues in reaching out to the shelter and visiting their children. Authorities are currently investigating and seeking to clarify the situation.
