The highly anticipated iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are anticipated to showcase cutting-edge features, with recent information revealing at least one significant hardware enhancement.
According to leaker Majin Bu, a photo posted on June 22 shows what is thought to be a vapor chamber cooling system intended for the iPhone 17 Pro. If this information is accurate, it would mark the first time iPhones utilize vapor chamber technology, a cooling method already widely adopted by premium Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This vapor chamber contains a slim, sealed metal layer filled with a small quantity of liquid. When the device heats up, the liquid converts to vapor, helping to evenly spread heat across the chamber. The vapor condenses and returns to liquid form, initiating a constant cooling cycle. This improved cooling mechanism could enhance thermal management during demanding activities such as gaming, aiding in sustaining optimal performance of Apple’s new A19 Pro processor.
Though Majin Bu has had varied success with Apple rumors, he correctly forecasted the introduction of macOS-style menu bars in iPadOS 26. Nonetheless, some of his earlier claims—like the introduction of Stage Manager on iPhones—were proven false. Currently, the source of the leaked cooling component remains unsubstantiated.
In related news, it’s suggested that Apple will pursue a full-screen design across the next two generations of iPhones. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned in his Power On newsletter on June 22 that Apple intends to downsize the Dynamic Island next year, culminating in a complete redesign for the milestone iPhone due in 2027.
According to Gurman, the anniversary model will sport ultra-slim bezels, rounded glass edges, and a flawless all-display screen, devoid of notches or cutouts. Supporting this idea, previous reports from Wayne Ma of The Information indicated potential under-display Face ID technology and a singular front camera cutout for the iPhone 18 Pro, minimizing visual interruptions on the screen.
Despite minor differences in their accounts, both sources agree that Apple is making consistent progress toward achieving a genuinely bezel-less iPhone with fully incorporated biometric and camera technology positioned beneath the display.
The forthcoming iPhone 17 series, set to launch this fall, is expected to comprise the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, along with a new slim model known as the iPhone 17 Air.
