VNG has officially announced the appointment of Kelly Yin Hon Wong as the new Chief Executive Officer, starting on May 20. The news was shared with the public on the morning of May 21. Mr. Wong will lead the company as CEO for the term spanning 2025 to 2030.
A national of Canada, Mr. Wong first came to Vietnam in 2004 and became a part of VNG in 2019, assuming the role of Deputy CEO and General Director of VNGGames.
Under his guidance, VNG’s gaming arm, which is the company’s oldest and most vital segment, saw significant expansion in both earnings and user engagement, greatly enhancing the firm’s financial health.
Throughout his time at VNGGames, the company actively embraced its Go Global strategy, launching new offices in Taipei and Shanghai and forming collaborations with leading global entities. These efforts reinforced VNG’s status as one of the premier game publishers in Southeast Asia.
Mr. Wong possesses nearly 20 years of extensive experience in various industries within Vietnam. He has held notable positions such as Deputy CEO of KIDO Group, Executive Chairman of Red Wok Investment (RWI), and Head of Corporate Advisory at Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC).
VNG Corporation also recently published its Q1 2025 financial results, showing net revenues of VND 2,232 billion (approximately USD 87.7 million) and a significant increase in adjusted operating profits, reaching VND 185 billion (around USD 7.3 million). In the first quarter of 2025, the company focused on advancing AI development, digital economic projects, and accelerating digital transformation.
