Vietnam Celebrates Historic Win Against Thailand
After a 27-year gap, Vietnam achieved a significant victory against Thailand on home soil during the final match. Coach Kim praised his predecessor, Park Hang Seo, for inspiring the team not to fear their rivals. He expressed his joy about the win, stating, “This triumph brings happiness to our fans as we enter a new year, proving that no challenge is too great for us.”
Kim stressed the necessity of customized strategies for every match.
“I focus on creating detailed plans tailored to each opponent, aiming solely for victory. I urged Xuan Son to be more aggressive today, and the entire team performed well, earning this commendable win,” Kim described.
The coach recognized the exceptional performance of striker Nguyen Xuan Son, who scored two goals.
“Xuan Son is an invaluable asset to our team. While he could benefit from a touch more composure, his performance today was remarkable,” Kim remarked.
Coach Kim also commended Doan Ngoc Tan’s efforts.
“Ngoc Tan is a dedicated player whose hard work contributed significantly to our defense against Thailand’s attacks, uplifting the team’s spirit,” he noted.
Even with the victory, Kim expressed disappointment over not winning by a larger margin.
“While we secured the win, a two-goal margin would have provided a stronger advantage. Nevertheless, I’m pleased with our performance and hope the players learn from this experience for the next leg,” he stated.
He also pointed out the team’s mistake that allowed Thailand to score.
“The goal we conceded stemmed from a moment of inattention. This serves as an important lesson for my players to remain vigilant in future matches,” he concluded.
