Kim Sang Sik: Vietnam Poised for ASEAN Cup Glory

Coach Kim Sang Sik: Vietnam is ready to dominate in the ASEAN Cup final

Vietnam’s Readiness for the ASEAN Cup Final

Coach Kim Sang Sik believes that the Vietnam national football team is well-prepared to win the ASEAN Cup 2024 (AFF Cup), no matter who they encounter in the final match.

“Reaching the final is a significant achievement, and I feel delighted,” Coach Kim stated following Vietnam’s 3-1 win over Singapore in the semi-final held at Viet Tri Stadium on December 29.

He expressed gratitude towards the fans, noting, “Their support and energy were crucial in helping us achieve this victory.”

Praising his players, Coach Kim remarked, “Throughout the six matches, the commitment of the players has been remarkable, adhering to the strategies laid out by the coaching team. They have put in their all, showing immense dedication. This is just the starting point, and I’m hopeful for even more success ahead.”

Injury Update and Strategic Decisions

On the injury concern for Ho Tan Tai, Coach Kim shared, “Tan Tai will be assessed medically tomorrow. He’s currently in considerable pain. Each player is crucial to our team, so losing him would pose a significant challenge. I hope his injury isn’t serious.”

Discussing the limited playtime of striker Tuan Hai, Kim explained, “As a head coach, deciding the starting lineup is always tough. Although Tuan Hai trains excellently, we have many players primed to contribute. I hope he has his moment in the final.”

Veteran Performance in Key Moments

For the first time in this tournament, Vietnam scored in the first half during the match against Singapore, which pleased the coach greatly.

“Finally, we accomplished a first-half goal. It was a significant relief. The first half presented challenges with missed chances, but securing that goal allowed for better control in the second half, balancing our offensive and defensive play,” he explained.

Looking Ahead to the Final

Vietnam will compete against either Thailand or the Philippines in the final. Coach Kim stressed that his team is ready for any challenge.

“Be it Thailand or the Philippines, Vietnam will come prepared with optimal strategies for the final. Our objective remains victory, regardless of our opponent,” he affirmed.

He concluded, “We will analyze our rivals meticulously, prepare diligently, and showcase our strength to seize the championship.”
