An incident took place around 11 a.m. on September 10 in the Ban Cai Commune located within Bac Ha District.
Early reports indicate that a landslide caused significant damage to the operations center of a hydropower plant, resulting in multiple injuries and leaving five individuals unaccounted for.
A police officer from Ban Cai Commune, who was on patrol nearby, encountered several injured victims at the landslide site. In response, rescue teams composed of 60 military personnel, local law enforcement, and militia members were quickly dispatched to the area.
The survivors from the landslide were taken to a clinic in Ban Cai for treatment. However, five people are still missing, and one individual is in critical condition at the scene.
In an urgent response, the Lao Cai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Rescue Command has deployed inflatable boats to aid in search and rescue missions, striving to find the missing persons promptly.
Rescue operations are still ongoing as officials continue to evaluate the overall impact of the disaster.
